The Best Ways to Make Money Fast in GTA Online in 2026, Ranked
GTA Online's money-making meta shifted after the July 2026 economy update. Here is the real ranking, by profit per hour: Dr. Dre's Contract, Cayo Perico, the Acid Lab and the passive business stack.

The fastest way to get rich in GTA Online in 2026 is a mix of one active earner and a stack of passive businesses running in the background. After the July 2026 economy pass (Title Update 1.73) trimmed several heist payouts, the ranking changed: some old favorites still pay well, but the real money now comes from combining a high-payout mission with businesses that keep printing cash while you are off doing something else.
Here is the current ranking, from best to worst, based on real profit per hour rather than headline numbers.
The essentials
- Best single payout: The Contract - Dr. Dre's Data Leaks finale, up to GTA$1,099,800 on your first weekly completion.
- Best repeatable heist: The Cayo Perico Heist, roughly GTA$700,000-1,500,000 solo per run depending on the target and difficulty.
- Best cheap business: the Acid Lab, GTA$750,000 to set up and over GTA$100,000 an hour with almost no active management.
- Best pure passive income: the Nightclub, once it is fed by other businesses, plus the full passive stack worth around GTA$130,000 an hour doing nothing.
- Biggest single sale: a fully upgraded Bunker, up to GTA$1.5 million per public-lobby sale, but it needs a big investment first.
1. The Contract: Dr. Dre's Data Leaks
If you already own an Agency, the finale of The Contract is the single highest-paying repeatable mission in the game. The leader collects GTA$900,000 for a normal replay, and up to GTA$1,099,800 the first time you finish it in a given weekly period (the bonus resets every Thursday). On top of that, the leader banks GTA$100,000 for each of the three Data Leaks recovered and another GTA$100,000 if the mission is that week's Weekly Challenge.
Run it with a full four-player crew and split evenly, or run it solo-friendly with hired NPCs if you want to keep the whole cut - either way, this is the mission to prioritize every week before anything else. See our full Dr. Dre's Contract heist guide for the setup order and the fastest route through the finale.
2. Cayo Perico Heist
Cayo Perico is still the best heist for players without an Agency, and the best one to run completely solo. A focused solo run nets roughly GTA$700,000-800,000 on a repeat primary target, and can climb past GTA$1.2 million on Hard Mode with a Pink Diamond as the primary target, since Hard Mode adds a flat bonus on top of the base payout. Sinsimito Tequila runs, which are the fastest to plan and execute, land closer to the lower end of that range but take far less setup time per run.
Because you keep 100% of the take when playing solo (there is no crew cut, only Pavel's percentage and the fence's fee), Cayo Perico usually beats any heist that needs a full crew on a strict profit-per-hour basis. Our Cayo Perico Heist guide breaks down every primary and secondary loot value and the fastest solo route through the island.
3. Acid Lab: the best low-cost business
For players who do not yet have GTA$5 million-plus to sink into an Agency or a fully upgraded Bunker, the Acid Lab is the best return on a small investment. It costs GTA$750,000 to set up, a fraction of most MC businesses, and a full self-supplied batch sells for over GTA$300,000 once fully upgraded, working out to more than GTA$100,000 an hour with very little active babysitting.
It will not out-earn Cayo Perico or the Contract, but it is the best first business to buy if your bank account is still in the low millions, and it stacks cleanly with everything else on this list.
4. Nightclub and the passive stack
The Nightclub is not a fast earner on its own; it is what turns your other businesses into real passive income. Once its warehouse is being fed by MC businesses or the Bunker, the safe alone pays out around GTA$50,000-100,000 a day just for logging in, no missions required. Owning the full set of passive businesses (Nightclub, Bunker, Acid Lab, MC businesses and the CEO warehouses feeding it) can add up to roughly GTA$105,500 every 48 minutes across the board, or around GTA$130,000 an hour if you let it run while you play something else. Check our Nightclub guide for the most efficient technician and warehouse setup.
5. Bunker and Gunrunning
The Bunker takes longer to pay off than the Acid Lab, since a full upgrade and staff investment run into the millions, but a fully staffed and researched Bunker selling in a public lobby (for the sale bonus) can clear up to GTA$1.5 million per delivery. It is best treated as a mid-to-late-game purchase once you have Cayo Perico or Contract money to fund the upgrades - our Bunker and Gunrunning guide covers the best location and the upgrade order that pays for itself fastest.
Which businesses are worth owning at all
Not every business on the map is worth your time. Some MC and CEO businesses have low sell prices for the floor space and staff cost they take up. See our full best GTA Online businesses ranked by profit for the complete tier list before you spend money on a property.
How the methods compare
| Method | Setup cost | Typical payout | Effort |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Contract: Dr. Dre finale | Agency (from ~GTA$2.1M) | GTA$900K-1.1M/run | Active, ~20-25 min |
| Cayo Perico Heist | GTA$100K prep cost | GTA$700K-1.5M solo | Active, ~20-30 min |
| Acid Lab | GTA$750K | $100K+/hour | Low, self-supplied |
| Nightclub + passive stack | Varies (multiple businesses) | ~$130K/hour combined | Very low, mostly AFK |
| Bunker (full upgrade) | GTA$1.5M-4M+ | Up to $1.5M/sale | Low, periodic sales |
What actually changed in 2026
Title Update 1.73, released in July 2026, cut several heist and Cayo Perico payouts by roughly 10-40% and, to compensate, added first-completion weekly bonuses worth up to four times the normal payout on some missions. In practice that means logging in early in the week to grab first-completion bonuses on the Contract and Cayo Perico before falling back on passive businesses for the rest of the week is now the most efficient loop, rather than grinding the same heist repeatedly every day.
The fastest realistic weekly routine
Most high-earning players now run something like this: knock out the Contract finale and a Cayo Perico run early in the week for the first-completion bonuses, collect Nightclub and Bunker sales whenever they are full, and top up with an Acid Lab batch or two between sessions. None of these methods require exploits or third-party software - GTA Online's anti-cheat systems have made money glitches a thing of the past, and Rockstar treats them as a bannable offense, so building wealth the legitimate way through heists and businesses is both the safest and, over a week, the most reliable option.
