Dial 1-999-887-853 on your character's in-game phone, or type TURTLE into the PC console, and GTA 5 fills your health bar back to full and hands you complete body armor. There's no five-minute timer to watch and no waiting for a cooldown: the moment the code registers, both stats snap to maximum and stay there until you take damage again. What does the Max Health & Armor cheat do?

TURTLE (its PC console name, and the origin of the phone number's letters) tops off two separate stats in one hit: your health bar refills completely, and you receive a full 100-point suit of body armor, even if you had none equipped a second earlier. It's a one-time top-up, not a shield. Nothing stops you from getting shot, stabbed or run over again the instant after you enter it, unlike the invincibility cheat, which blocks nearly all damage for a full five minutes. Think of TURTLE as an instant heal-and-resupply, and PAINKILLER as temporary bulletproofing, best used one after the other in a firefight you are losing.

How to enter it on PS4 and PS5

Stand still or keep walking during normal gameplay, not from a pause menu or cutscene, and enter:

A small confirmation message flashes in the top-left corner the instant the game reads the sequence correctly, and your health and armor bars fill in immediately.

Like the PlayStation version, it needs to be entered live in-game. Pausing partway through resets the input, so hold off on opening any menu until you see the confirmation.

Open the console with the tilde key (~) or the backslash key (), type TURTLE, and press Enter. It's case-insensitive but has to be spelled exactly, no spaces, no extra characters.

The phone number method

Every GTA 5 console cheat also works as an in-story phone number. Pull out your character's phone, open the dialer, and call 1-999-887-853. It takes a couple of seconds longer than the button combo, but there's no timing to fumble, which makes it the safer option on a pad you're not used to.

Common mistakes that waste the cheat

• Entering it while your character is already dead, wasted or mid-cutscene does nothing. You need to be in active free-roam gameplay.
• It doesn't auto-renew. Get shot again a minute later and you're back to whatever health and armor you had, so re-enter the code as needed rather than expecting it to protect you continuously.
• On PC, a typo in the console just gets ignored silently, so double-check the spelling if nothing happens.
• Like every other cheat code, it disables trophies and achievements for the rest of that session. Your save file itself is untouched, so save first, cheat, then reload later if you're chasing 100% completion.

Health and Armor vs. Invincibility: which one do you need?

If you're about to walk into a firefight you might lose, TURTLE is the better opener since it guarantees a full buffer before the bullets start. If you're already pinned down and need breathing room right now, invincibility buys five full minutes where almost nothing can kill you outright, though it won't stop a bad car crash or a long fall. Plenty of players stack both: top off health and armor with TURTLE, then flip on PAINKILLER the moment things get worse.

Pairing it with other cheats

Health and armor pairs naturally with an escape plan. Spawn the Buzzard attack chopper to get airborne once you've survived the shootout, or grab a full weapon loadout before you top off your stats so you're not just surviving, you're winning. FAQ

Does the Max Health & Armor cheat work in GTA Online? No. Every phone-number and console cheat in GTA 5 is locked to story mode. Using cheats or cheat-adjacent mods in GTA Online risks a ban.

Can armor go above 100 with this cheat? No, it caps at the same maximum any pickup or Ammu-Nation purchase would give you, full health and 100 armor.

Will it break my save file? No, only trophies and achievements are disabled for that session. Reload a save from before you cheated to restore eligibility.

Is there a cooldown before I can use it again? No cooldown at all. You can enter it as many times as you want, back-to-back, unlike invincibility which needs about five minutes to reset.
