How to enter the weapons cheat

There are two ways to trigger it, and both only work in single-player free roam (not during cutscenes or most missions):

1. Controller / keyboard input: press the button sequence directly during gameplay, no menu needed. Timing matters, entries too far apart will not register.
2. Phone: open the in-game cell phone, tap the dial pad icon, enter 1-999-8665-87, then hit call. This is usually the easier method on PC since it does not require memorizing an input string.

On PC, the alternative is the developer console: press the tilde key (~) to bring it up, type the cheat word, and press Enter.

Explosive ammo, flaming bullets and explosive melee

Once you have your weapons, three more codes change how they behave. All three stack with the weapons cheat and with each other.

Explosive ammo is the closest thing GTA 5 has to a one-shot-kill cheat against most NPCs and vehicles, and it is especially useful for chaining kills during a rampage or clearing a wanted level fast. Flaming bullets and explosive melee are more novelty than practical, but they are fun to combine with the Buzzard cheat code for an over-the-top aerial assault, or with the Sanchez cheat code for a fast escape after you have caused chaos.

What the weapons cheat does not do

• It does not give every weapon in the game, no minigun, no railgun, no melee weapons beyond the knife. For those you still need to buy from Ammu-Nation or find them in the world.
• It does not work in GTA Online under any circumstance. Rockstar strips cheat functionality entirely from the multiplayer mode to protect the economy.
• It does not persist after you reload a save unless you re-enter it. Cheats are session-based, not saved to your character.

Why use the weapons cheat instead of buying guns

Ammu-Nation sells everything the cheat gives you and more, so the code is really about speed, not access. It is most useful when you want to jump straight into free-roam chaos, test out one of the special abilities with a full loadout, or refill ammo instantly without a store run. Pair it with the invincibility cheat if you want a completely consequence-free rampage.

Does GTA 6 have a weapons cheat code?
