GTA 5 Rampage Missions: All 5 Locations, Requirements and Gold Medal Guide
Every GTA 5 Rampage mission mapped: all 5 locations, kill counts, time limits and how to gold medal each one as Trevor Philips.

GTA 5 has five Rampage missions, and every single one of them is exclusive to Trevor Philips. Each is a short, brutal shooting challenge: kill a set number of enemies before a timer runs out, with no wanted level and unlimited ammo for whatever weapon the mission hands you. Here is every Rampage location, every requirement, and how to gold medal each one.
Essentials
- 5 Rampages total, unlocked one at a time, playable only as Trevor Philips.
- No wanted level during a Rampage, whatever chaos you cause.
- Rampage 1 unlocks after the "Trevor Philips Industries" story mission.
- Complete all five to earn the "Red Mist" trophy or achievement.
- Rampages count toward the GTA 5 100% completion checklist.
What is a Rampage in GTA 5?
Rampages have been part of the series since GTA III: a stranger picks a fight, hands you a weapon, and you have a short window to rack up kills before the mission fails. GTA 5 keeps the formula but assigns every Rampage to Trevor Philips only - fitting, given how the character is written. Trigger one by walking up to the marked NPC, and the game drops a kill counter and countdown timer on screen. Miss the target number before time runs out and the mission simply resets, no penalty beyond having to try again.
When do Rampage missions unlock in GTA 5?
Rampage One becomes available the moment you finish "Trevor Philips Industries," the story mission where Trevor's meth lab in Sandy Shores gets raided by the Aztecas. That mission happens early in Trevor's own questline, well before he crosses paths with Michael and Franklin, so you can start knocking out Rampages long before the heists begin.
From there, the five Rampages unlock strictly in order - finishing one is what triggers the next to appear on the map. You cannot skip ahead or grind them out of sequence, and like the rest of the Strangers and Freaks side missions, they stay available for the rest of the story once unlocked.
All 5 GTA 5 Rampage locations
| # | Name | Enemies to kill | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rednecks | 25 in 2:00 | Marina Drive, Sandy Shores |
| 2 | Vagos | 30 in 2:00 | Macdonald St & Jamestown St, Rancho, Los Santos |
| 3 | Ballas | 30 in 2:00 | Forum Drive, Chamberlain Hills, Los Santos |
| 4 | Military | 35 in 3:00, plus Rhino tanks | Fort Zancudo approach, Great Chaparral |
| 5 | Hipsters | 20 in 2:00 | Mirror Park Boulevard, Los Santos |
Rampage 1: Rednecks (Sandy Shores)
Trevor starts this one outside a liquor store on Marina Drive, west of Sandy Shores, by picking a fight with two rednecks drinking outside. From there, waves pour in from the surrounding trailers and the highway. Kill at least 25 within 2 minutes to pass. For a gold medal, keep your health above half and clear the area before the clock runs out - backing into the store's doorway limits how many angles enemies can shoot you from.
Rampage 2: Vagos (Rancho, Los Santos)
The second Rampage triggers at the corner of Macdonald Street and Jamestown Street in Rancho, a Vagos stronghold in south Los Santos. Trevor needs 30 kills in 2 minutes as gang members swarm from the surrounding blocks on foot and in cars. Staying mobile matters here - the area is close-quarters, and it is easy to get boxed in by vehicles blocking the street.
Rampage 3: Ballas (Chamberlain Hills, Los Santos)
This one plays out in an alley off Forum Drive in Chamberlain Hills, deep in Ballas territory. Same target as Rampage 2: 30 kills, 2-minute window. The strategy carries over too - hold a chokepoint rather than pushing into the open street, since Ballas members will flank from both ends of the alley.
Rampage 4: Military (Fort Zancudo approach)
The stakes go up outside Fort Zancudo: Trevor has to kill 35 soldiers and destroy the Rhino tanks the military throws at him, in 3 minutes, armed with a Grenade Launcher and 25 grenades. Save your grenades for the tanks rather than the infantry - a single well-placed shot can wreck a Rhino, while soldiers die just as fast to the launcher's splash damage. If you already know how to steal a Rhino tank at the base, you will recognize the same tank pathing here.
Rampage 5: Hipsters (Mirror Park)
The last Rampage starts near Cool Beans on Mirror Park Boulevard, where Trevor snatches a hipster's phone and starts a brawl. Waves of hipsters come at him on foot, on Faggio scooters, Issi hatchbacks and Fixter bicycles. Trevor gets a sawed-off shotgun plus 25 grenades and needs 20 kills in 2 minutes. The shotgun one-shots most enemies at close range, so let them come to you instead of chasing them down the block.
How to get a gold medal on every GTA 5 Rampage
Gold medals on Rampages track the same things as any Strangers and Freaks job: hit the required kill count and stay inside the time limit while your health holds up. There is no separate accuracy or headshot requirement on any of these five - the main risk is running out the clock while chasing stragglers into cover, so prioritize staying in the open where enemies keep funneling toward you rather than hunting them down side streets. If a Rampage does not gold on the first try, replay just that mission from the Strangers and Freaks menu on your phone; retries cost nothing and do not affect the story.
Do Rampages pay cash in GTA 5?
Unlike some of the earliest Rampage challenges in the series, GTA 5's five do not hand Trevor a cash bonus for finishing them. The payoff is the gold medal itself, which counts toward mission completion stats, and eventually the trophy for finishing all five. If you are chasing in-game money instead, Rampages are not the side hustle for that - look at heists or Lester's stock market assassination missions instead.
Common mistakes that cost you a Rampage gold medal
Most failed Rampage attempts come down to the same handful of habits:
- Chasing runners into cover. Every second spent flanking a single enemy who ducked behind a car is a second the timer keeps burning. Let the crowd come to you instead.
- Starting with low health. Rampages do not heal you first, so a Rampage attempted right after a shootout can end before the timer even matters. Top up health and armor before you trigger one.
- Forgetting the secondary objective on Rampage 4. The Rhino tanks near Fort Zancudo will keep firing while you are focused on infantry - ignore them too long and they will wipe you out before you hit 35 kills.
- Driving away from the fight. On Rampages 2 and 3 especially, getting into a car to reposition usually costs more time than it saves, since enemies keep spawning around your last position anyway.
Why Rampages matter: the Red Mist trophy and 100% completion
Finishing all five unlocks "Red Mist," part of the full trophy and achievement list, and Rampages are also one of the checklist items on the way to 100% story completion. Since Trevor Philips is the only playable character for any of them, they are a good excuse to spend time in his questline early - by the time you are grinding stunt jumps or spaceship parts later, the Rampages will already be checked off the list.
