Grand Theft Auto V brought back the classic button-combo cheat system on Xbox 360, the same style GTA fans knew from San Andreas - no phone required, just a sequence punched in on the controller while you are unpaused and in single-player. • Cheats only work in GTA V Story Mode, never in GTA Online.

How to enter a cheat code on Xbox 360

Vehicle cheats spawn the ride right in front of you, and if you are already driving something, it often gets flung out of the way. Save anything precious before you use one - these cars can't be stored in a garage afterward if you total them.

Should you actually use these?

Cheats are a fun way to mess around once you have finished the story, but they come with real trade-offs: no achievements for the session, and cheats that spawn or destroy vehicles can glitch a mission in progress if you forget to turn them off. The safest habit is to keep a separate manual save before you start cheating, then reload it once you are done clowning around in free roam.

If you are chasing trophies or the platinum, skip cheats entirely on that playthrough. If you just want to fly a Buzzard into the Maze Bank Tower for the tenth time, this list has everything you need.

What about GTA 6?

FAQ

Do Xbox 360 cheat codes work on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S? Yes. The Xbox 360 button combinations are identical on every later Xbox release of GTA V, since the button layout carried over.

Can I use these cheats in GTA Online? No. All 31 codes are disabled outside of Story Mode.

Do cheat codes corrupt my save file? No, but they do disable achievements for the current session, and using vehicle-spawning cheats mid-mission can sometimes break scripted events. Finish or abandon the mission first.
