GTA 5 Weather Cheat Code: How to Change the Weather on Any Platform

There is no menu option to pick sunshine or rain in GTA 5 story mode. Instead, Rockstar built a single weather cheat that cycles through every condition in the game, from clear skies to a full thunderstorm, and it works the same way on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S do not get their own controller combo. Sony and Microsoft's new controllers use the same button layout as their previous generation for this purpose, so the PS4 combo and Xbox One combo both carry over unchanged. The phone method is identical on every platform since it is typed the same way regardless of controller.

How to enter the weather cheat

The method depends on where you are playing.

On console, hold the character's phone out of the equation and enter the button combo directly while unpaused, with no menu prompt to confirm it. Press the inputs at a steady pace: PS4 and PS3 players tap R2, X, L1, L1, L2, L2, L2, Square, while Xbox One, Series X|S and 360 players tap RT, A, LB, LB, LT, LT, LT, X. If nothing happens, you likely pressed two inputs at once or missed one in the sequence, so slow down and try again.

On console or PC, you can skip the combo entirely and use the in-game cell phone instead. Open the phone, go to the dialer, type 1-999-625-348-7246 exactly, and press call. The cheat fires the moment the call connects, and you will hear a chime and see clouds gather within a few seconds.

Each activation moves the game to the next state in its internal weather list, not a random one. Because it is a cycle rather than a menu, getting to a specific state (say, a thunderstorm for screenshots) sometimes takes several activations in a row.
