GTA 6 Boxed Copy Delivery in France: When Leclerc, Fnac and Micromania Send Your Code

If you pre-ordered a boxed copy of GTA 6 in France, the date that matters is November 12, 2026, not November 19. The box contains a download code rather than a disc, and that code is what lets you preload the game a week before launch. Leclerc, Fnac and the other French retailers are expected to ship or hand over boxes from November 12, but at least one of them still contradicts itself, so it pays to know what each store has actually written.

The essentials:

• There is no disc. Rockstar confirmed in June 2026 that every boxed edition, Standard and Ultimate, holds a single-use download code. Details in our article on the GTA 6 physical edition with no disc.
• Preload opens November 12. Rockstar Support says preloading starts at midnight local time on November 12, for digital buyers and for boxed codes alike.
• Leclerc says "from November 12" in its emails, but its product page and some order summaries still say shipping and pickup from November 18. Nothing is guaranteed until the parcel moves.
• Fnac's product page announces the box with its code from November 12, ahead of the November 19 release.
• Micromania has not published a firm date that we could verify. Check your order page or ask your store.
• Everyone unlocks at the same moment: midnight in your store's time zone, which in France means the night of November 18 to 19.

Why the box date matters more than the release date

With a disc, a box that arrives on launch morning is a minor annoyance: you insert it and wait for a day-one patch. With GTA 6 it is different. The box is only a key. The whole game has to come down over your connection, and the reported install size is huge (our GTA 6 file size estimate covers how much space to free).

That is why retailers were allowed to release boxes a week early. Rockstar's own wording, relayed by the press when the code-in-a-box format was confirmed, is that boxed versions are available from November 12 to support preloading. A code redeemed on November 12 gives you seven days to download. A code that only reaches you on November 19 means you start the download at the same moment everyone else starts playing.

So the real question behind "when will my GTA 6 box be delivered" is: how many days of preload will I get?

Leclerc: November 12 in the emails, November 18 on the page

Leclerc is the retailer that generated the most confusion. Here is the timeline as reported by the French press:

• June 2026: Leclerc emailed pre-order customers that, "at the request of the publisher", they would receive their order from November 12. The email also spelled out that the box contains only an activation code, no disc (reported by KultureGeek).
• October 2026: some customers received a notice that their card was about to be charged, and several confirmed the payment went through. Journal du Geek and Xboxygen noted that delivery is expected between November 12 and November 18.
• At the same time, the Leclerc product page still listed a release on November 19 with shipping and in-store pickup from November 18, and some order summaries carried the same November 18 date.

Our reading: the November 12 date comes from the publisher's instructions and is the more recent and specific promise, so it is the likely one. But Leclerc has not cleaned up its own page, and we cannot guarantee it. If you ordered at Leclerc:

1. Check the status of your order in your Leclerc account from November 10 onward.
2. If you chose in-store pickup, call your store before making the trip: pickup at Leclerc is handled store by store.
3. Keep the confirmation email that mentions November 12. If the box arrives late, it is your best argument with customer service.

Fnac: the box with its code from November 12

Fnac is clearer. Its GTA VI product page for PS5 tells pre-order customers they will receive the box with the download code from 12/11/2026, and that the game itself comes out on November 19, 2026. It also states plainly that the product is a code, not a disc.

Fnac offers home delivery and pickup in store. Pickup is the safer option if you want your code on day one of the preload window: you collect the box and redeem the code in the car park if you want. Home delivery depends on the carrier, so a parcel shipped on November 12 may only land on the 13th or 14th.

Micromania: no confirmed date yet

Micromania sold the boxed game at the official price of 79.99 euros, with a voucher offer on top during the pre-order window. What we could not find is a dated statement from Micromania about when boxes ship or go out in stores. French buying guides disagree: some say November 12, others only mention pickup on release day.

What this means in practice:

• If you picked store pickup, ask your Micromania store directly whether they will hand out boxes from November 12.
• If you picked home delivery, watch your order page. The date shown there is the one that commits the store.
• Do not assume November 19. The publisher's instruction applies to all retailers, so a store that only starts on the 19th would be the exception, not the rule.

Amazon, Cdiscount, Carrefour and the rest

Journal du Geek lists Amazon, Fnac, Cdiscount, Carrefour and Leclerc among the French stores selling the code-in-a-box edition. None of them, as far as we found, has published a date that contradicts November 12. Amazon.fr usually shows an estimated delivery date on the order itself, and that date moves as the release approaches: refresh it in the week of November 9.

Table: what each French retailer says

Statements read in the French press between June and October 2026. Retailers can update their pages: the date on your own order is the one that counts.

What to do the day your box arrives

1. Redeem the code right away on the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store, from the console or the web. The game is added to your library.
2. Start the download. If it is November 12 or later, the preload begins. Our GTA 6 preload guide walks through the steps on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
3. Leave the console in rest mode so the download keeps going overnight.
4. Do not throw away the code card until the game is fully installed and unlocked on launch night.

A code bought in France is meant for a European account. If you are buying a box as a gift for someone abroad, check that their account region matches before you hand it over, especially on PS5.

Delivery traps to avoid

• Nobody can deliver the playable game before launch. A seller promising the game "unlocked" before November 19 is lying. Our guide to avoiding GTA 6 pre-order scams covers the common tricks.
• A box arriving on the 12th does not let you play on the 12th. The code installs the game; it stays locked until midnight in your store's time zone on launch night.
• Late box, refund or not? If your parcel is stuck and you would rather buy digitally, the rules depend on the store. Our guide on cancelling a GTA 6 pre-order explains what each platform allows.

When can you actually play?

GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no single worldwide unlock: each store unlocks at midnight in its own region's time zone. For a French account, that means midnight Paris time, on the night of November 18 to 19. Our page on the GTA 6 release time in every timezone has the full table.

Whether your code came from Leclerc, Fnac or Micromania changes nothing on that night. The only difference a retailer makes is how long you had to download.

We will update this guide if Leclerc corrects its product page or Micromania publishes a date. Sources: KultureGeek, Journal du Geek (October 21, 2026), Xboxygen, Fnac product page, Rockstar Support.
