GTA 6 Collector's Box Costs $399.99 - and Doesn't Include the Game

Rockstar Games has revealed the physical collector's set built around GTA 6, and the reveal came with a catch that spread just as fast as the merchandise photos: the $399.99 box does not include a copy of the game.

The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection went up for pre-order on Rockstar's own store on September 24, 2026. Rockstar calls it a "premium Collector's Box," not a collector's edition, and that wording turns out to matter a lot.

Rockstar's box leans hard into Vice City's beach-and-neon identity rather than in-game items. According to the official listing, it includes:

• Macca the Gator figure with a twist-open storage base
• Oakley Frogskins sunglasses in matte black with Prizm Sapphire lenses
• Leonida Keys ripstop crossbody bag with a custom zipper pull
• New Era 9FORTY snapback hat
• Macca the Gator magnetic mirror in electroplated pink glass
• Chunkee the Manatee shot glass
• Vice City collectible swizzle spoon
• Vice City razor blade keychain
• Leonida Keys enamel pin set, nine pins in a metal tin
• Leonida Keys sticker pack, nine vinyl stickers in a stash bag
• Double-sided souvenir poster with a full map of Leonida

That is a genuinely dense box of merchandise. What it is not is a copy of the game itself, or any bonus tied to Rockstar's confirmed Standard and Ultimate editions.

Why doesn't $400 include the game?

This is the first time Rockstar has sold Grand Theft Auto merchandise this way. Past collector's editions, going back to GTA 5, bundled the physical goodies around a copy of the game itself. Here, Rockstar is treating the box as a standalone product line, separate from the actual pre-order editions and separate from hardware tie-ins like the GTA 6 DualSense controller.

Add shipping and tax, and a buyer who wants both the merchandise and the game is well past $480 before launch day even arrives. That math is exactly what is driving the backlash: buyers used to a "collector's edition" assumed the game was in the box, and it is not.

The Vice City Collection is live now on Rockstar's official store, while supplies last, capped at one per person and gated behind a Social Club login. Rockstar has not announced a restock plan if it sells out, so anyone set on the physical merchandise should not wait. The reaction so far

Community response has been largely negative. The most common complaint is not the $399.99 price tag by itself, it is the assumption that a box built around a system-selling launch would include the game it is celebrating. Rockstar has not responded publicly to the criticism as of this writing.
