GTA 6 Launch Week Calendar: What Happens Each Day From November 12 to 20

GTA 6 is twelve days away, and the final stretch is no longer one date but a whole week of them. The pre-load opens on November 10, boxed copies reach shops on November 12, reviews are reported for November 18, and the game unlocks at midnight on November 19 in your store's time zone. Here is the launch week of GTA 6 laid out day by day, with what is official, what is only reported, and what you should actually do on each date.

The essentials

• Tuesday, November 10: digital pre-load opens (official). Up to 212 GB.
• Thursday, November 12: code-in-box copies on sale at retailers (official). No disc inside.
• November 13 to 17: no official event announced. The window to clear space, finish the download and lock down spoilers.
• Wednesday, November 18: review embargo, as reported by insiders (not confirmed by Rockstar). The Miami Heat play as "Vice City" that evening.
• Thursday, November 19: launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, at midnight in your store's time zone. Free printable poster and Leonida map on Rockstar's site.
• Friday, November 20: the Vintage Vice City Pack pre-order bonus no longer applies to new purchases.

The calendar at a glance

The warm-up: November 9 and 10

The week technically starts early. On Monday, November 9, Take-Two Interactive publishes its fiscal second-quarter results after the US market closes, with a conference call reported at 4:30pm ET by GTA Boom. It is the last investor update before launch. Do not expect gameplay news there, but executives usually comment on pre-order momentum, and any official figure would replace the third-party sales estimates circulating this month.

On Tuesday, November 10, the pre-load opens. Rockstar moved it forward from November 12 in an announcement on November 3, and the start time depends on your console:

• PS5: midnight local time on November 10, wherever you are.
• Xbox Series X|S: one worldwide moment, 12am GMT on November 10. That is 4pm PT and 7pm ET on Monday, November 9, and 1am in Paris.

The install needs up to 212 GB depending on the device. We covered the details, and how much room each console really has, in our pre-load article. Pre-loading only downloads the files: the game stays locked until launch night.

One practical warning for PS5 owners: on the PlayStation Store, a digital pre-order generally cannot be refunded once the download has started. If you are still on the fence, decide before you hit download. Our guide to cancelling a GTA 6 pre-order explains the rules on both stores.

Thursday, November 12: boxed copies reach shops

Code-in-box editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S go on sale at retailers from November 12. As we explained when Rockstar confirmed it, the physical edition has no disc: the box contains a download code. So buying a boxed copy does not save you the 212 GB download, it only lets you start it.

What that means in practice:

• Already pre-ordered a box online? Delivery timing depends on the retailer. Redeem the code as soon as it arrives and the download starts like a digital copy.
• Buying in a shop on the 12th? Same thing. The earlier you redeem, the more of the nine-day window you get.
• Waiting until launch day to buy a box? You will have to download the whole game on the night itself, at the same time as millions of other players. That is the scenario to avoid.

November 13 to 17: the quiet days

Rockstar has not announced anything for these five days. That does not mean nothing will happen: in the last weeks before launch, Rockstar has released a launch trailer and a gallery of new screenshots, and more marketing is likely. But nothing is on the official calendar, so treat this window as your preparation time.

A short checklist for the quiet days:

1. Confirm the download is complete. Open the game tile and check that no further data is pending. Leave headroom beyond 212 GB, since a launch update is common for big releases.
2. Update your console and keep automatic updates on, so any day-one patch installs before you sit down.
3. Mute spoiler keywords. Some players will get the game hours before others, and boxed copies are already in circulation from the 12th. Our guide to avoiding GTA 6 spoilers lists the filters to set on X, YouTube, Reddit and TikTok.
4. Ignore "early access" offers. There is no beta and no early download outside the official pre-load. Anything promising otherwise is a scam.

Wednesday, November 18: reviews (reported) and Vice City Night

Reviews. Insider NateTheHate reported in late October that the GTA 6 review embargo lifts on November 18, the day before launch, and Insider Gaming said it could corroborate the date. Reports place the time around the US morning, but they do not agree on the exact hour, and some suggest certain outlets may have to wait until launch. Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed any of this. Earlier in the year, a different rumor claimed reviews would be written on site rather than from home codes; we looked at what that would change in our piece on how GTA 6 reviews could work.

For context, Rockstar's last two big launches followed the same rhythm: GTA 5 reviews went live the day before its September 2013 release, and Red Dead Redemption 2 reviews landed a few days before launch in October 2018. A November 18 embargo would fit that pattern.

Vice City Night. The same evening, the Miami Heat host the Milwaukee Bucks at the Kaseya Center at 7pm ET under the banner "A Night in Vice City", with a redesigned court, special uniforms and a merchandise capsule made with Rockstar. The game is broadcast nationally on ESPN in the US. It is a marketing event, not a game reveal, but expect a lot of Vice City imagery on your timeline that night.

The first unlocks. For much of the world, launch actually starts on the 18th. Because each store region unlocks at its own midnight, players in New Zealand, Australia, Japan and much of Asia, and in Europe, reach November 19 while it is still November 18 in UTC. In France, Germany and Spain the game unlocks at 23:00 UTC on the 18th, which is midnight local time.

Thursday, November 19: launch day

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, at midnight in your store's time zone. There is no single worldwide unlock. A few reference points:

Note the US rule: every US time zone unlocks at midnight Eastern, so a player in Los Angeles gets the game at 9pm on Wednesday the 18th. Our page on the GTA 6 release time in every timezone has the full table.

Also on November 19, Rockstar is adding a free printable cover-art poster and a map of Leonida to its website as a digital download. A double-sided physical version is due at the Rockstar Store shortly after launch, for $0.99 or free with any purchase.

If the game does not start at your unlock time, do not panic and do not reinstall: in most launches, the fix is to check for an update, restart the console, or restore licenses. Server load on launch night is a real risk for anything that needs to connect, although Rockstar has not said how much of the game, if anything, depends on its servers at launch.

PC players: there is still no PC date. Nothing in this calendar applies to PC.

Friday, November 20: the pre-order bonus window closes

Rockstar's wording is that all GTA 6 pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, 2026 receive the Vintage Vice City Pack: pastel outfits for Jason and Lucia, a '55 Vapid Stanier, a garage and a weapon pattern. What we do not know yet

• The exact review embargo time, or whether there is one at all on the 18th.
• The day-one patch. Rockstar has not detailed one. Size and timing will only be known when it appears.
• The precise install size per console. 212 GB is an upper bound; your console shows the real figure once the pre-load starts.
• Online features at launch. Rockstar has not detailed what, if anything, is online on day one.
